The Tale of Todd and Leigh
Since: March 6th 2008
Leigh's introduction to the Andrzejewski family
didn't begin the day she met Todd.
Instead, she met his mom first.
Janet was Leigh's 8th grade math teacher.
The last question on the last test of the year:
"How do you spell my last name?"
It was multiple choice,
(Andrewjetski wasn't an option)
So Leigh got it wrong.
Todd couldn't be in his mother's class,
but his friends could.
And Todd's friends met Leigh,
then Todd met Leigh
and Todd and Leigh became friends
(as these things tend to happen)
But Leigh got this idea
that her and Todd could be
"more than friends,"
and set about asking him out.
It was not unusual for Leigh and Lindsey to visit the boys
at the table across the cafeteria.
But that day, Leigh made the journey alone,
as Lindsey provided the girls at the table
with a detailed play-by-play.
Leigh leaned against the table,
so she could face Todd.
They made small talk for a while,
until she whispered in his ear:
"Will you go out with me?"
He elegantly replied:
"Maybe."
It took some persuading
(2 days worth) but all in all,
Todd liked the idea of having a girlfriend
and eventually said "yes."
That weekend they went on their first date.
Since Todd wasn't 17 yet, they couldn't get in to see
the newest Will Farrell movie.
So they settled on "Juno" instead.
(You know, that movie about teen pregnancy)
It was your stereotypical awkward-teenage first date.
But it ended with a kiss
(Ok, lots of kissing)
And as Leigh was about to leave,
they held each other in a good-bye embrace
and Todd whispered:
Todd and Leigh did your normal high school romance activities;
Dates, Movies, Prom and Senior Ball.
They also went on some cool trips together.
New Orleans, Boston, Long Beach Island.
They graduated from Liverpool High School in June 2009.
(Well, Todd did. Leigh was in Alaska during the ceremony)
But for every couple, patience is a virtue.
And Todd and Leigh decided to test their patience
by attending different colleges about 2 hours apart.
Todd majored in Information Technology at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Leigh majored in Creative Writing and Broadcasting at SUNY Oswego.
They spent four years apart
but frequently visited each other between seasonal breaks.
And through the magic of the internet,
were able to skype and talk on the phone almost every night.
It wasn't easy for either of them, but they could see the light
at the end of the tunnel after each semester apart.
And as the proverbial end came closer and closer
Todd was offered a job in Indianapolis.
He had assumed she would just move out there with him.
And he assumed correctly.
They both graduated in May 2013
The two began work in their respective fields
Todd writes automation software
Leigh works at a tv station.
It was a beautiful thing.
On Decemeber 9th 2013, Leigh's 23rd birthday,
the two went to dinner at Harry&Izzy's
and when they got home, Todd proposed.
Leigh joyfully said yes.
5 Years of tested patience finally paid off,
And they made their dreams come true.
